Why Should You Exercise
Most people would agree that regular physical activity is good for you, but the majority of us don't do enough exercise to improve our health.Physical inactivity is equally as important as smoking cigarettes and eating an unhealthy diet in contributing to chronic diseases. Adults who are physically active have a 20-30% reduced risk of premature death, and up to 50% reduced risk of developing major chronic diseases such as heart disease

GP Referrals LeafletThe Exercise Referral Scheme is an introduction to physical activity scheme, which enables GP's and other health professionals to recommend a course of clients who would benefit from taking regular exercise.
It entitles you to join a 20-session activity programme at one of East Riding of Yorkshire Councils sports and Leisure Centre's. Throughout which you will have the help and guidance of a specially qualified exercise professional.
If you require further information about the Exercise Referral Scheme,ask your GP, practice nurse or health professional.If you are referred onto the scheme, you will be contacted by the exercise referral instructor to arrange your first session.
The Exercise On Pescription scheme runs twice a week. These sessions are on a Monday and Wednesday from 3.00 p.m. until 4.00p.m.
Weight Management
The aim of this session is to encourage people who would not normally perceive themsleves as using a sports or leisure centre to change their lifestyle and start to participate in moderate physical activity.
We are wanting to create a friendly social atmosphere, which encourages people to make fiends as well as improve their lifestyle.
The session runs twice weekly on a Tuesday and Thursday. The Tuesday session starts at 10.00 a.m. and finishes at 11.30 a.m. It begins with a general weigh-in followed by an exercise class. On a Thursday there's no weigh-in. This session is a pure exerise session running from 10.15 a.m. until 11.00 a.m.
Healthy Lifestyles
An open activity morning for all. The Healthy Lifestylesession is an activity packed 2 hours where you choose what to do. You can take part in a number of Racket Sports including badminton, squash and racketball, or alternativley work as easy as you like in the fitness suite. Mix all this in with a mid morning social and a nice cuppa!!
These sessions are held on a Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between 10.00am - 12.00pm.
Please note: To use the fitness suite you must have completed the induction process.
